SELR # 410

Llamarr DOB: 10/96.

Llamarr is a very easy going guy who likes to be around people. He is curious about everything and often will gently offer his assistance when someone is working around him. He sometimes has to be reminded that he needs to yield more space when greeting people but is not aggressive.

Llamarr is a special needs llama because he is permanently down on his pastern on his right front foot and may have developed arthritis in his right leg. Llamarr was checked by the vet (July 23, 08) and he has a damaged stifle. The vet states Llamarr seems happy and healthy otherwise and sees no reason to put him down. He says that Llamarr will eventually learn to walk on three legs.

He will make a great companion llama, but cannot be placed with rowdy llamas nor adopted as a guard due to his medical challenges.

SELR # 402

Zeus DOB: Est 2004

Zeus is a very tall classic build llama who is in need of someone to work with him and show him that the world is not a scary place. He timidly will try new things and learns quickly so it would not take long for him to learn the ropes.

He allows toenail trimming without a fuss and this is further proof that he is open to new experiences. He is a sturdy boned llama and could possibly be trained to pack. Zeus has been in four different homes and is looking for a permanent family to love.

SELR # 403

Buckeye DOB: Est. 2003

Buckeye is a half llama/half alpaca gelding who was born to the research herd at the Ohio State University and subsequently offered for sale to benefit the International Camelid Institute. He was purchased and then sold twice prior to his being surrendered to SELR.

Buck is a little hard to halter and handle but leads well and will load willingly into a trailer. He cannot be put in with female llamas or alpacas because he will mount them. He has not bothered goats so he may work out as a guard for sheep or goats, but other male llamas would be ideal.

Buck really enjoys life as exhibited in his behavior. He delights in dinner, plays with gusto, and sleep is pure bliss.

Having had five homes in as many years, Buck is weary of moving and is ready to settle down and provide a loving family with a loving companion.

P.S. - Buck is a bit foamy in this picture, having just enjoyed a dose of SafeGuard!!
